8th Computer Art Congress

Computer Art and Digital Design in the Age of Generative AI
October 30 – November 2, 2024

The Computer Art Congress (CAC) is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary academic gathering that interrogates art and sciences from different angles. The 8th edition was held at the National University of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Echoes of Tomorrow: Technologies and Dystopias

In this conference, Joaquín Fargas explored the blurred lines between nature and technology, highlighting how humans often mimic natural structures both consciously and unconsciously. Examples included adobe bricks resembling ovenbird nests and the perfect hexagons of beehives, suggesting that these natural constructs might share technological capabilities with human creations. This led to a question: what really distinguishes technology from nature? Is not nature itself technology, or technology nature?

During the conference, the installation Speculative Futures was exhibited, and a robotic meditation was conducted with both the participants and visitors.
