Art and energy (Madrid)

”Science must be viewed with the eye of the artist, and the arts must be seen with the eye from within life.”

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Eyüce – Dean Bahçeşehir University

The 21st century is prompting urban transformations driven by the impact of new communication and energy networks in the city. Sensitized to these changes, the architecture studio Lorenzo Alonso Architects and its laboratory, Espacio BOP, have organized a workshop on City and Energy, named Project CLU, as a tribute to the pioneering and influential programming language, as well as to the conceptual foundations of ‘Tron,’ a foremost filmic and aesthetic reference in the digital universe. Project CLU will commence with the inauguration of the exhibition “Art and Energy,” showcasing the recent work of the internationally renowned Argentine bio-artist Joaquín Fargas. “Art and Energy” reflects the artist’s personal vision regarding the role of art in materializing a new iconography for the cities of the new millennium and will serve as the guiding theme for the scheduled debate sessions.

Day I – ”Art and Energy” – Joaquín Fargas:

Argentine artist Joaquín Fargas presents his first two exhibitions in Spain this February, at Espacio Bop in Madrid and at the O+O Gallery in Valencia. With an extensive international trajectory in the realm of art and science, his projects blend cutting-edge research and technologies with a refined aesthetic criterion. On this occasion, several projects related to art and energy will be showcased as part of the scheduled activities for Project CLU. Joaquín Fargas, who has previously given very interesting talks about his projects at the LAA Architecture Studio – Espacio Bop, joins the multidisciplinary artist team for the development of Project CLU. The exhibition will feature models, electronic works, prints, and informative panels corresponding to projects such as Antártida, Kuref (Self-sustaining wind sculpture), Solar Moebius, Salix Babylonica Technologicus, and Biosphere, among others. The exhibition, coordinated by Juan Antonio Lleó, has the collaboration of Maimónides University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), where Joaquín heads the Bioart department, and the Artiscien 9 Association.
