POLAR DIALAGUES AT THE END STARD OF THE WORLD

The First Biennial of the End of the World will be held in Ushuaia in March 2007, in agreement with and on the occasion of the International Polar Year.
Science and art share the same concerns the so-called ecological emergencies resound loud and clear at these extreme latitudes. For a long time now, Canada has been a friendly nation closely linked to Argentina. This excellent relationship is evidenced by the number and quality of exchanges made in recent times in the fields of culture and education. Naturally then, Canada will have an outstanding participation at the Biennial.

The relationship between the South and the North Poles with their peculiar world´s end imaginarium constitutes a challenge to ponder over what other worlds may be possible. This topic is an effective trigger for artists to work in the frame of a foundational biennial which, in the international concert of contemporary art, intends to share a proposal towards true accountability in the face of reality. Art ca and should be an ally in social and environmental struggles, and it can and should contribute to better peoples´ education.

Art is a privileged tool to articulate great insight and dreams … feasible projects that attract more and more willing people having a common goal to create new sympathy networks with great insight and effectiveness in the decision-making process so as to produce the required changes.
